Supreme Court Rejects Petition to Disqualify TMC Rebel MLAs

The Supreme Court on Thursday refused to hear a petition filed by TMC leader Sobhan Dev Chattopadhyay seeking disqualification of 10 rebel MLAs, including Leader of Opposition Ritabrata Banerjee, under the anti-defection law. The court directed the petitioners to approach the Calcutta High Court, which was asked to expedite the hearing with a two-judge bench. The petition was filed in July but remains undecided.
