Supreme Court Rejects Mahua Moitra's Plea on Stock Market Transparency

The Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed TMC MP Mahua Moitra's petition seeking directions to SEBI for disclosure of real beneficial owners and investment portfolios of Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs), Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs), and their intermediaries. The court ruled that such an order requires an existing legal or regulatory framework, which is currently absent. The bench suggested Moitra raise the issue in Parliament instead.
