Supreme Court Questions Government on 100% Ethanol Vehicle Supply
On October 29, 2026, the Supreme Court asked the Government how it would supply ethanol if 100% ethanol-run vehicles were permitted. The Road Transport Ministry recently allowed flex-fuel vehicles to run on nearly pure ethanol (E100). However, Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri stated there is no immediate plan to increase ethanol blending beyond 20%. The Court was hearing pleas on ethanol allocation for 2025-26.
