PoliticsSupreme Court Orders Stricter Action on Unpaid Traffic Challans
The Supreme Court has directed states and Union territories to enforce stricter measures against vehicle owners with unpaid traffic e-challans. Services like renewal of registration certificates, issuance of duplicate RCs, address updates, and fitness certificates will be restricted until fines are cleared. Around Rs 49,194.05 crore remains unpaid, while Rs 26,175.05 crore has been recovered. Vehicles with outstanding fines may be blacklisted on the central Parivahan portal, affecting their sale or transfer.
