Supreme Court Flags Unrestricted Firecracker Sales in Delhi Despite Restrictions

The Supreme Court expressed concern over reports of unrestricted firecracker sales in Delhi markets despite court-imposed restrictions ahead of Diwali. Justices MM Sundresh and Prasanna B Varale asked the Centre to investigate a media report showing both licensed and unlicensed firecrackers, including those without QR codes, being openly sold. The court had allowed sale of certified green firecrackers from November 4 to 6 and use on November 7 and 8 with restricted hours.
