PoliticsSupreme Court Flags Jharkhand DGP Appointment Rule Conflict
The Supreme Court stated that Jharkhand's appointment of DGP Tadasha Mishra violates its 2006 Prakash Singh verdict, which mandates a minimum six-month residual tenure for DGP appointments. Mishra was appointed a day before her retirement. The court sought Mishra's response and indicated that if the rules are annulled, her appointment must be set aside. The state government was directed to issue a notice to Mishra.
