Supreme Court directs Calcutta HC to hear plea on rebel TMC MLAs' disqualification

The Supreme Court on Thursday refused to entertain a plea by a Trinamool Congress faction leader seeking direction to the West Bengal Assembly Speaker to expedite disqualification of rebel MLAs. The bench, led by Chief Justice Surya Kant, asked the petitioner Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay to approach the Calcutta High Court. It urged the Calcutta HC Chief Justice to list the matter before a division bench for urgent hearing and expeditious decision.
