PoliticsSupreme Court denies relief to Mamata-led TMC on frozen bank accounts
The Supreme Court refused to grant relief to the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress faction regarding four bank accounts frozen in a land allotment probe. The Calcutta High Court is currently hearing the matter and has scheduled further hearings after the Puja holidays. The TMC faction seeks to de-freeze the accounts, citing a need for ₹19 crore monthly expenses, willing to reduce to ₹12.15 crore. Senior advocates argued the Enforcement Directorate froze three accounts in a money laundering investigation.
