Supreme Court defers hearing on Election Commission petitions
The Supreme Court has postponed the hearing on multiple petitions challenging the Election Commission's functioning. The petitions allege that Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar made unilateral decisions on issues needing unanimous approval, especially regarding the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The court granted petitioners 10 days to respond to the Election Commission's counter-affidavit.
