Supreme Court: CEC and Election Commissioners Have Greater Legal Immunity Than Judges
The Supreme Court of India stated that the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and Election Commissioners enjoy greater legal immunity than judges. This remark came amid concerns raised by former Bengal chief electoral officers Debashis Sen and Basudeb Banerjee. The court is also seeking explanations regarding recent changes to the voter roll, including issues around the Election Commission's Form 6 for new voters.
