Sugarcane Farmers End Protest After Price Agreement in Belagavi

The week-long protest by sugarcane farmers in Belagavi ended after a meeting with factory owners on Wednesday night. Farmers agreed to a price of ₹3,600 per tonne, ₹50 higher than last year. The 29 sugar factories in Belagavi district will start crushing from Thursday. Minister Satish Jarkiholi said this price applies only to Belagavi mills and may increase if the Union government revises sugar prices.
