A study on Erigeron canadensis (Canadian horseweed) found that invasive populations outside their native North and Central America have 19.2% higher competitive ability than native populations. This advantage persisted under both watered and drought conditions, though drought reduced overall competitiveness by 12.9%. The research involved 100 native and 165 non-native populations grown in a glasshouse to test competition effects on local plant diversity.
