Customs officials at Kempegowda International Airport arrested Sri Lankan national Manohar Rangaswamy on August 23 for smuggling gold using his specially abled daughter. The 25-year-old woman wore two gold anklets coated with silver and rhodium, weighing 823 grams and valued at Rs 1.24 crore. Rangaswamy frequently traveled between Sri Lanka, Bengaluru, and Chennai, claiming medical treatment for his daughter. This is the third such case at KIA since May 2026 involving gold smuggling using disabled passengers.
