Sri Lanka Navy Detains 7 Indian Fishermen, Seizes Trawler for Poaching
The Sri Lanka Navy apprehended seven Indian fishermen and seized their trawler for allegedly poaching in Sri Lankan territorial waters north of Talaimannar. The fishermen crossed the International Maritime Boundary Line, prompting a naval operation by the North Central Naval Command. The detainees and vessel will be handed to Mannar's Fisheries Department for legal action. Fishing disputes in the Palk Strait remain a sensitive issue between India and Sri Lanka.
