South Korean Shares Drop Over 1% on AI Trade Concerns; Won Strengthens
South Korean shares fell over 1% on Monday due to investor concerns about artificial intelligence trade ahead of major US tech companies' quarterly earnings this week. The KOSPI dropped 1.5% to 5,467.16, led by losses in chipmakers Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix. The won strengthened against the dollar, and government bond yields declined. SK Hynix plans to announce shareholder return measures Wednesday.
