South Korea’s military and the United Nations Command have launched a joint investigation into a landmine explosion near the Demilitarised Zone (DMZ) on September 21, 2026. The blast injured three South Korean soldiers while clearing a patrol route. The investigative team of about 40 officials is searching the site to determine the cause, with results to be publicly disclosed amid suspicions the device may have originated from North Korea.
