After the monsoon season ended, India's 178 major reservoirs are only 68.58% full, leaving 31.42% capacity empty. South India, especially the Cauvery and Pennar river basins, faces significant water shortages compared to normal levels. This decline in water storage may impact agriculture, drinking water, and power generation in coming months. Current storage is 126.717 billion cubic meters, 24.53% less than last year and 16.44% below the 10-year average.
