Global Report Finds 17% Boys Face Sexual Violence Before 18

A global study analyzing 1,412 reports from 147 countries, including India, reveals that about 17 out of every 100 boys under 18 have experienced some form of sexual violence. The study covered nearly 29 million males and estimated 60.9 million boys worldwide faced sexual violence in one year, with 34.8 million subjected to rape or sexual assault. In Mangaluru, 18% of adolescent boys reported sexual abuse, with the highest rates among 14-17 year olds at 10.7%. Perpetrators often include acquaintances and family members.
