Azusa Pacific University and Whittier College, which had dropped football in 2020 and 2022 respectively, have restarted their programs to address declining enrollment. These schools are among 10 four-year colleges that began or resumed football this season, the highest since 2013. Football programs, with large rosters, are seen as effective tools to attract students and enhance campus culture amid nationwide enrollment challenges.
