Singapore Sees Highest Q3 Layoffs Since 2020 Pandemic
In the third quarter of 2026, Singapore experienced 4,800 retrenchments, the highest since late 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic. This increase was driven by business reorganisations, despite an overall employment growth of 27,700 in the same period. The Ministry of Manpower warned of emerging labour market weaknesses, with more companies planning layoffs in the next three months.
