Severe Cyclonic Storm Murusu Hits Andhra Coast, Causes Heavy Rain

Severe cyclonic storm Murusu crossed the Andhra Pradesh coast near Kothapatnam in Prakasam district early Tuesday, bringing strong winds and heavy rainfall to coastal districts. The storm followed Cyclone Arnab, which caused seven deaths in the state. IMD reported Murusu moved north-northwest at 8 kmph with winds of 100-110 kmph gusting to 120 kmph. It is expected to weaken gradually into a cyclonic storm and then a deep depression by midnight.
