Sartaj Singh Gandhi, a talented seventh-grade student, created a sensor that detects spoiled meat by measuring ammonia gas released during decay. His tests showed peak ammonia levels on day six for turkey, chicken, pork, and beef. Sartaj plans to expand the device to other foods and aspires to become a cardiothoracic surgeon.
