SEBI Revises Closing Auction Session Timings and Order Rules

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has updated the closing auction session (CAS) framework, setting the auction window from 3:30 p.m. to 3:40 p.m. starting December 7, 2026. The reference price will be based on the volume-weighted average price (VWAP) of the last 15 minutes of continuous trading. Order entry will close randomly between 3:38 p.m. and 3:40 p.m. Index derivatives trade until 3:45 p.m., with expiring contracts ending at 3:30 p.m. on expiry days.
