Sebi Allows Mutual Funds to Net Cash Market Settlements
The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) has allowed mutual fund schemes to net their fund settlement obligations for outright cash market transactions starting April 1, 2027. This change aims to reduce temporary funding needs and improve operational efficiency by permitting offsetting of eligible purchase and sale obligations within the same scheme and settlement cycle. Securities settlement will still be on a gross basis.
