ScienceScientists Develop World's First Working Nuclear Clocks
Scientists from Europe and China have developed the world's first working nuclear clocks, as reported in two papers in Nature. Teams in Beijing and Shanghai embedded thorium-229 nuclei in calcium fluoride crystals and used ultraviolet lasers. Meanwhile, researchers from Austria, the Czech Republic, and Germany created a similar clock and used it to search for dark matter.
