Scientists Define 'Heat Storms' as Massive, Long-lasting Heat Events
Scientists have introduced the term 'heat storms' to describe massive, cascading heat events that cover vast areas of the planet for months or years. This new concept emerged from a consultation with two dozen climate researchers and an analysis of hourly global temperatures since 1960. Heat storms differ from traditional heat waves, which were once isolated and sporadic.
