The idea that right-brained people are more creative and left-brained people are more logical originated in the 19th century with Paul Broca's discovery that speech is mainly controlled by the left brain. Later, Roger Sperry's studies on split-brain patients showed the left hemisphere specializes in language, while the right handles emotional and nonverbal tasks, but creativity is not confined to one side.
