SC Upholds Saregama's Copyright Over Ilaiyaraaja's Song

The Supreme Court refused to interfere with the Delhi High Court ruling that music composer Ilaiyaraaja does not own the copyright to the lyrics and sound recording of "En Iniya Pon Nilave" from the Tamil film Moodu Pani. The court held that the copyright in the sound recording belongs to music label Saregama, which had obtained rights from the film's producer. Ilaiyaraaja's challenge was dismissed.
