Safari West Wildlife Preserve Transitions to Nonprofit Stewardship
Safari West, a 400-acre wildlife preserve in Sonoma County, California, known as the "Sonoma Serengeti," is transitioning from private to nonprofit management to ensure its future. Founded in the 1980s by Peter Lang and zoologist Nancy Lang, the preserve has focused on conservation and captive breeding. It houses over 900 animals, including giraffes, rhinos, and flamingos, and has been open to the public since 1993.
