Rupee rises 23 paise to 96.65 against US dollar in early trade
The Indian rupee appreciated by 23 paise to 96.65 against the US dollar in early trade on October 9, 2026. The rise was supported by a slight weakening of the US dollar and suspected intervention by the Reserve Bank of India. The dollar index fell to 102, and Brent crude prices dropped to $103.39 per barrel after US President Donald Trump said an attack on Iran would occur only after midterm elections. However, geopolitical pressures and foreign fund outflows continue to challenge the rupee.
