Rupee Gains 49 Paise as RBI Imposes Curbs to Stop Speculation
The rupee appreciated by 49 paise to close at 95.28 per dollar on Tuesday, up from 95.77 in the previous session. This gain outperformed other Asian currencies following the Reserve Bank of India's introduction of measures to curb dollar demand and speculative trading. These measures have widened bid-ask spreads in the forwards market and shifted some trading to the non-deliverable forward market.
