RTI Data Shows Mental Health Support Gaps in 16 IITs

An RTI analysis of 16 Indian Institutes of Technology reveals most do not meet the UGC's recommended mental-health counsellor-to-student ratio. IIT-BHU has one counsellor per 4,750 students, IIT Patna one per 1,950, while only IIT Ropar, IIT Dharwad, and IIT Indore meet the guideline of one counsellor per 500 students. IIT Kharagpur and IIT Roorkee also fall short of the recommended ratios.
