Rising Freight Costs from West Asia Conflict Hit Kerala Exports
Kerala's exports of spices, coir, perishables, vegetables, rubber, and related products are facing challenges due to sharply increased air freight charges caused by the ongoing West Asia conflict. Higher transportation costs have reduced the competitiveness of Kerala products abroad, leading to fewer orders. Air cargo volumes at Kerala's international airports grew only 3.8% in July-September 2026, much lower than the usual 5-10% growth.
