Retail Inflation Hits 9-Month High of 5.5% Due to Food Prices
Retail inflation in India rose to 5.5% in September, the highest in nine months, up from 4.8% in August. The increase was driven by a surge in food prices, raising household expenses. This marks the first time inflation crossed 5% under the new CPI series and remains above the RBI's 4% target for the fourth consecutive month, though within the 2-6% tolerance band.
