Residents Allege Illegal Mining, Damage at Pirayiri-Mambra Quarry

Residents of Pirayiri and Mambra in Palakkad allege illegal mining and excessive blasting at a granite quarry, causing cracks in about 25 nearby houses. They claim the quarry violates permit conditions by extracting four to five times the allowed granite daily, using around 150 trucks. Kerala LoP Pinarayi Vijayan Released After 8-Hour Detention in Delhi

Kerala Leader of Opposition and CPI(M) Politburo member Pinarayi Vijayan was detained by Delhi police for over eight hours during a protest at Jantar Mantar.
