Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) withdrew a record ₹3.08 trillion ($32.73 billion) from Indian equities in the first nine months of 2026, nearly double the ₹1.66 trillion withdrawn in 2025. NSDL data shows FPIs were net sellers in the secondary market, pulling out ₹3.64 trillion by October 12, while the primary market saw net inflows of ₹56,485 crore. The outflows are linked to rising US bond yields, AI stock rallies, and high crude prices amid West Asia conflict.
