RBI to Favor Shorter Tenure Government Bonds in H2 FY27
The Reserve Bank of India plans to shift government borrowing towards shorter-tenure bonds in the second half of fiscal year 2027 due to elevated surplus banking liquidity. Traders anticipate that short-term securities will make up 35% of borrowing, up from 31% in the first half, with strong demand also expected for 5-7 year bonds influencing issuance.
