BusinessRBI May Raise Repo Rate by 100 Basis Points in H1 2027
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is expected to raise the repo rate by a total of 100 basis points during the first half of 2027, according to Bank of America Securities. The first hike of 25 basis points is forecast for October 7, 2026, with an additional 75 basis points thereafter, bringing the terminal rate to 6.25%. The forecast was revised up from an earlier 50 basis points due to resilient economic growth and inflation risks, including high crude oil prices and food supply pressures.
