RBI May Hike Repo Rate by 75-100 Basis Points This Cycle
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) may increase the repo rate by 75-100 basis points in the current tightening cycle, according to an SBI Capital Markets report. Inflation is expected to stay high before easing from the next financial year. The Monetary Policy Committee recently raised the repo rate by 25 basis points and shifted to a "Calibrated Tightening" stance, focusing on inflation control. Inflation is projected to peak in Q3 FY27 and ease thereafter, with policy easing expected in Q1 FY28.
