Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, addressing the Indian Indo-Pacific Regional Dialogue in New Delhi, emphasized the need to broaden India's maritime security strategy. He stated that protecting only ships and trade routes is insufficient. Critical infrastructure like underwater internet cables, ports, and oil and gas facilities must also be secured as attacks on these can impact the economy. Singh highlighted threats from piracy, smuggling, illegal fishing, cyberattacks, and natural disasters, urging enhanced monitoring of all maritime activities.
