Railway Staff and Retirees Can Upgrade Class on Premium Trains by Paying Fare Difference

The Railway Board has clarified that holders of Privilege Passes, Post Retirement Complimentary Passes, and Widow Passes can travel in a higher class than entitled on premium trains like Rajdhani, Duronto, and Shatabdi Express by paying the fare difference. This decision resolves ambiguity in the Railway Servants (Pass) Rules, 1986, and supersedes previous instructions. The Centre for Railway Information Systems will update the passenger reservation system accordingly.
