Punjab Pharmacy Council Cancels Registration of Pharmacist Accused in Jhota Murder

The Punjab Pharmacy Council cancelled the registration of pharmacist Ashwani Kumar, accused in the murder of anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhota. The decision, effective from October 20, 2026, was made under Section 36(1)(ii) of the Pharmacy Act, 1948. Jhota was shot dead on October 13 in Mansa while livestreaming. The CBI has registered an FIR naming Kumar and others as accused.
