Punjab Groom Calls Off Wedding Over Rs 10 Lakh Dowry Demand

A wedding in Punjab's Faridkot district was canceled after the groom's family demanded Rs 10 lakh and four tolas of gold from the bride's family just before the ceremony scheduled for November 4. The bride's family could not meet the demand, leading the groom to refuse to bring the wedding procession. The bride's father filed a police complaint against the groom and his family. The groom, Amanjot Singh, is from Ferozepur district, and the bride's family had completed all preparations.
