PoliticsProtests Demand Resignation of CEC Over Voter Roll Issues
On October 10, New Delhi will host a major protest called 'Dilli Chalo' led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), All India Students’ Association (AISA), and others. They demand Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar's resignation, citing voter disenfranchisement due to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter rolls, centralised electoral databases, and autocratic Election Commission decisions. Congress, led by Rahul Gandhi, also protests for the CEC's removal, with leaders detained on October 6 and 7. Other demands include rolling back SIR, freezing 2025 electoral rolls, returning to ballot papers, and repealing the 2023 CEC Act.
