Postmortem Reveals Cause of Death in Kolkata Durga Puja Stampede

The initial postmortem report of 19 people who died in the Kolkata Chorbagan Durga Puja stampede reveals that most deaths were due to suffocation and severe injuries. The crowd pressure caused traumatic asphyxia, compressing victims' chests and making breathing difficult. Many who fell were crushed under the crowd, resulting in serious internal organ damage including lungs, liver, and pancreas.
