HealthPlague Death in Siberia Triggers Quarantine and Isolation
A young employee at an anti-plague research institute in Russia's Irkutsk region died from suspected pneumonic plague after accidentally breaking a test tube with live bacteria. Nearly 200 people have been isolated and events cancelled as a hospital quarantine was imposed. The woman was admitted with severe pneumonia and died on a ventilator. Officials confirmed no plague outbreaks in nearby Buryatia.
