Pitti Palace, built in the mid-15th century for banker Luca Pitti, resembles a fortress with its massive stone façade. Later acquired by Eleonora of Toledo, wife of Cosimo I de’ Medici, it became the Medici grand ducal residence, symbolizing wealth and power. Originally meant to rival the Medici, the palace ironically passed to them due to Pitti's descendants' financial troubles. Inside, gardens, fountains, and a grand courtyard contrast the fortress exterior.
