Petrol Pumps to Check Tanks for Water Every 2-8 Hours: Officials

State-run oil marketing companies have mandated that over 93,000 petrol pumps across India check their storage tanks and fuel nozzles for water every two to eight hours, depending on shifts and weather. This is to protect the quality of 20% ethanol-blended petrol (E20). Indian Oil and Hindustan Petroleum enforce checks every 2-4 hours, while Bharat Petroleum has reduced checks to every 8 hours as per a recent letter.
