SportsPermanent Daylight Time Causes Late NHL Games in Western Canada
Three Canadian provinces—Alberta, Manitoba, and British Columbia—have chosen to remain on permanent daylight saving time, causing NHL games in these regions to start later than usual. This affects teams like the Edmonton Oilers, Calgary Flames, Winnipeg Jets, and Vancouver Canucks. Calgary Flames CEO Robert Hayes said the schedule changes are beyond their control. Some Flames games will start at 9 p.m. local time, requiring players to adjust their routines.
