Periyar Tiger Reserve Introduces CNG Buses to Reduce Pollution

Periyar Tiger Reserve in Thekkady, Kerala, has introduced compressed natural gas (CNG) buses to reduce pollution within the reserve. This is the first tourism centre under the Kerala Forest Department to adopt CNG buses for passenger transit. Previously, diesel buses were used for a four-km route inside the reserve. Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited Kochi Refinery funded ₹88.37 lakh for the eco-friendly fleet under its CSR initiative.
